JANICE LYNDE

Janice Lynde

Janice Lynde is the consummate industry professional who while continuing to be in demand as an actress, has become one of the fields most sought after acting coaches.

On the upcoming season finale of HBO’s critically acclaimed series, SIX FEET UNDER, Janice guest stars opposite James Cromwell, to a stunning surprise ending. The role will be recurring into the following season. She can also be seen on Showtime’s ONE KILL with Anne Heche and Sam Shepherd, and is also recurring on the same network’s RESURRECTION BOULEVARD.

Her entrance into show business came early, as a child concert pianist. She was born in Texas, then as a child her father took the family to Southwest Louisiana, settling into the local community of Sulphur, near the Texas border. Her picture appeared on Life Magazine for winning (in the same year) the prestigious Van Cliburn Piano Competition & winning the talent competition in the first Miss Teenage America Pageant (representing Sulphur, Louisiana).

After her win for the Miss Teenage America title, Janice moved to New York where she was on scholarship with the Metropolitan Opera and was soon accepted at the infamous Actor’s Studio. From there she did many Broadway play’s including “Butterflies Are Free,” “Pippin,” and “Applause.”

Television soon beckoned Lynde, and off to Hollywood she moved, where she joined the original cast of CBS’s THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Her portrayal of Leslie Brooks, the tortured concert pianist, garnered her first Emmy nomination. She then went on to star in several other soaps including ANOTHER WORLD, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL.

Her primetime credits include Oscar’s girlfriend on THE ODD COUPLE, QUINCY, TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL and countless others.

This October, her first book will be released on Tallfellow Publications, TEN MINUTES TO THE AUDITION…(an actor’s last minute guide and checklist for getting the part). It developed out of her hobby as a sailplane pilot, similar to a pilot’s last minute checklis
t before take-off, but translated for the actor’s pressured audition process.
