Dinah Lenney

Dinah studied at Yale and with Sandy Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She performed up and down the east coast before winding up in Los Angeles, where she’s worked at the Mark Taper Forum and Theatre West, in the Coast Playhouse production of “Blame it on the Movies II” and at the Gnu Theatre in John Patrick Shanley’s “Italian American Reconciliation” with Joe Pantoliano.

Most recently, Dinah played Lady Macbeth for the Uprising Theatre Company, having also acted in their critically acclaimed production of “Hamlet” at the Court Theatre. She played Rosie in Murray Mednick’s “Fedunn” at the Odyssey and originated the role of Jane in the world premiere of “The First Picture Show” at A.C.T.

On the big screen Dinah starred in Henry Jaglom’s BABYFEVER. Other feature film credits include ROADS TO RICHES, THE PUPPET MASTERS, MR. JONES, INTERNAL AFFAIRS and THREE FUGITIVES. You will soon see Dinah in THE HAPPIEST DAY OF HIS LIFE. The light-hearted film is in post-production and will be released later this year.

Moving effortlessly from comedy to drama, Dinah has guest-starred on numerous television shows including CRUMBS, JOAN OF ARCADIA and THE WEST WING. She was a series regular on ABC’s A FINE ROMANCE, voiced 'Baby Lisa" on BABY TALK and is entering her 13th season as no-nonsense Nurse Shirley on NBC’s award-winning drama ER.

Dinah coaches actors privately and works as an adjunct professor in the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television. Her memoir will be published in early 2007, and Acting for Young Actors, co-authored with award winning director Mary Lou Belli, is due from Watson-Guptill this Summer. She lives in Echo Park with her husband, Fred, and their children, Eliza and Jake.
