AMY HILL

Amy Hill

Actor, Producer, Writer of stage, film, and television, Amy Hill gained national attention playing the quirky outspoken grandmother (several decades her senior) on the groundbreaking sitcom ALL-AMERICAN GIRL on ABC. Hill pulled off the illusion with her flair for vocal and physical mannerisms. Her sassy asides were often the show's comic highlights.

The daughter of a native Japanese mother and a Finnish-American serviceman father, Hill grew up in rural South Dakota. Traveling to Japan as a teen, Hill attended the Sophia International University in Tokyo and worked part-time in radio and TV. Back in the states, she attended the American Conservatory Theater and became a busy voice-over performer and improviser in the California Bay Area.

Hill became a West Coast stage fixture and amassed over 30 stage credits. Of her award winning one-woman shows; "Tokyo Bound" was critically acclaimed across the country, was part of the "Festival of New Voices" at the Public Theater in New York and was nominated for a ’95 Cable Ace Award, “Beside Myself” was seen on the mainstage of L.A.’s Mark Taper Forum, while “Reunion” (the final chapter of her trilogy) enjoyed a sold out engagement at the Actors Theater of Louisville’s Flying Solo Festival. Her Broadway debut in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at Lincoln Center aired on PBS’ “Live From Lincoln Center”. She’s very proud of her association with LA’s own East West Players and Cornerstone Theater Company.

Amy made her television acting debut on THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW and has been working steadily ever since. She has guest starred in over 40 television series including SIX FEET UNDER, WITHOUT A TRACE and JAKE IN PROGRESS. She has recurring roles on THAT'S SO RAVEN, NORTH SHORE, MY WIFE AND KIDS, and THE HUGHLEYS. Amy was a series regular on ABC's HOT PROPERTIES and next up you will see her guest starring opposite Felicity Huffman in the mega-hit DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Her voice is recognized by children all over the world as animated characters on KING OF THE HILL, LILO & STICH: THE SERIES, JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES, THE PROUD FAMILY, SPIDER-MAN and the new Cartoon Network series THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JUNIPER LEE.

Hill continues to work on stage and write. She has written scripts for THE PUZZLE PLACE, a daily preschool series stressing multicultural values, that began airing on PBS in 1995. She produced and hosted a public access cable show that celebrated Asian-Pacific Americans in arts and entertainment

On the big-screen her comedic talents earned her scene-stealing turns in 34 feature films including NEXT FRIDAY, MAX KEEBLE'S BIG MOVIE, BIG FAT LIAR, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN and Drew Barrymore's protective friend in 50 FIRST DATES. She had a major screen role as Mrs. Kwan, the babysitter and rival to Mike Myers' Cat in THE CAT IN THE HAT.
