A native of Los Angeles, Alexandra Hedison started taking photographs while she was an actress working in both film and television. She made the transition professionally to photography, and in 2002 her abstract color landscape work was shown at Rose Gallery at Santa Monica’s renowned Bergamot Station.
In 2004, Hedison presented Elements, a solo show at White Room Gallery in West Hollywood. The exhibit, a series of abstract landscapes, offered an overview of her medium format color photographs from the previous four years. In 2005, Hedison continued this series with Re(Building), a solo exhibit exploring the challenging themes of change, transition and progress. Hedison’s work has also been published in Time, USA Today, NY Times, People and Newsweek.
A fellow of AFI’s distinguished Directing Workshop For Women, Hedison’s directing credits include THE MAKING OF SUIT YOURSELF, a documentary about the recording of Shelby Lynne’s most recent album; and the short film, IN THE DOGHOUSE, currently being seen on the film festival circuit.
Hedison can also be seen in front of the camera this year, appearing in the third season of Showtime’s acclaimed series, THE L WORD.
