MARIA QUIBAN
Maria Quiban is FOX 11’s weekend weather anchor and weekday fill-in weather anchor. In addition to her weather duties on FOX, Maria also anchors the weekend edition of UPN 13 News.

Before joining the UPN 13/FOX 11 news team in May of 2000, Maria spent two years as weather anchor/reporter for OCN (Orange County News Channel). She also built and produced weather graphics for the station's nightly weather broadcasts.

Prior to OCN, Maria first gained experience reporting the weather while at NBC Hawaii News 8, where she served as the station's weather anchor/reporter. Before joining Hawaii News8, she worked at UH Magazine in Honolulu, HI where she hosted a 30 minute semi-weekly magazine show targeting the Gen X audience. Previous to UH Magazine, Maria worked as co-host/writer for KFVE-TV in Honolulu where she introduced movies, critiques and commercials. Before KFVE, she was the host of a 1-hour weekly program called Perlas USA, which focused on entertainers, and politicians of the Filipino Community.

Maria grew up in Honolulu and studied Journalism at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 1987, she spent 2 years in Europe and then returned home to Hawaii to finish her studies. Maria has just completed her certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Maria is active in the 'Kids Read Across America' program. She also volunteers her time speaking to young single mothers about her own experience as a single mom. Having her baby while still in high school left her with very early responsibilities. She enjoys sharing her experience of struggle and success in hopes of inspiring another teen mom to achieve her dreams.

Maria enjoys biking, swimming, hiking, snowboarding and playing her guitar and ukelele. She's also been known to take acting roles in movies and television. Feature film credits include FIRST DAUGHTER, CATCH THAT KID, BRUCE ALMIGHTY, Clint Eastwood's thriller BLOOD WORK and KEALOHA: THE BELOVED. On the small screen, you can see her on EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, COLD CASE, CRIMINAL MINDS, 24, MEDIUM, JAG, SON OF THE BEACH and BIRDS OF PREY.

When she is not starring in movies, Maria enjoys watching them with an extra large bag of popcorn and, of course, watching the Weather Channel!
