Steve Railsback is an award winning actor, who is also an accomplished motion picture producer, television producer and director. He is noted for his compelling, chameleon-like portrayals while mesmerizing audiences with a number of diverse roles both on film and television. The Dallas-born actor started pursuing his career as a student of Lee Strasberg and The Actors Studio, becoming a regular fixture in NY theater. He caught the attention of Elia Kazan, who offered him his first film role in The Visitors. It was his shockingly vivid television role as cult leader and mass murderer Charles Manson in Helter Skelter that had audiences riveted to their chairs. Steve starred in the mini-series From Here to Eternity and has had roles in numerous films, television movies and series including a memorable role as Duane Barry on The X-Files. Current projects include portraying Robert Blake in made-for-TV movie Dying for Stardom based on the life of Bonny Lee Bakley, Seperated by Murder and Devils Rejects. Steve wrote the teleplay for The Forgotten and served as the film's executive producer. He once again delved inside the complex mind of a schizophrenic serial killer with his role as the title character in the feature Ed Gein, serving as executive producer as well. Steve directed The Flight of the Dove starring Scott Glenn and Theresa Russell; produced and directed Barstow starring Dwight Yoakam and co-produced The Stars Fell on Henrietta with Clint Eastwood. Steve and his wife Marcy reside in Los Angeles with their cheildren. They are very family-oriented and enjoy spending time together traveling, playing golf and watching boxing. |
