Mike Rad is a versatile performer on stage, film, television, and commercials and has fast become a staple of American television. Invariably known as “That guy,” Mike’s ten-year tenure as a professional actor has earned him: roles in such series as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, X-Files, ER, Charmed, Malcolm In The Middle, Walker, Texas Ranger, and the chance to prove himself weekly on Comedy Central with regular appearances in Martin Short’s industry-insider show Prime Time Glick and recurring roles in UPN’s, Special Unit 2. In the world of comedy theater Mike is an alumni graduate of Second City and also studied with The Groundlings and is a member of the improv group, “Being Humans”. As a successful stand-up around Los Angeles, Mike has performed his critically acclaimed, one-man-show which led to its debut in NYC for NBC, and the further working of his comedy muscle in numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In the world of commercials Mike’s signature style and comedic flair has led to nearly forty commercials including Chiquita Bananas, Budweiser, Hostess, ESPN, 7-Up, Snickers, AT&T, MacDonalds, I-HOP, and dozens more. A native of the Jersey shore Mike naturally began surfing, earning prestige and membership in the Eastern Surfing Association. Within the ESA he competed and won many surf contests leading him into his college career as a team surfer. Before graduating from the University Of North Carolina at Wilmington, Mike competed with the surfing team under the world renowned N.S.S.A. He then moved to Hawaii and has traveled the world to pursue his surfing goals. The most recent surf contest he has competed in was in the A.A.U. South Coast Surfing SeriesMasters Division in Cardiff California for which he placed second. Mike is proud to be a part of the film American Splendor with co-stars Paul Giamatti and Hope Davis. It was the 2003 Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner. |
