Hallee Hirsh was born at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. Both parents served in the military, her mom was a Captain in the United States Navy and her dad is a retired United States Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel.
Hallee began attending theater productions starring her older brother when she was just two years old. By the time she was three, she was also on the stage and had done her first T.V. commercial for Disney Cruise Lines. A military transfer to New York City soon afterwards cemented the direction and fate of the family. Hallee landed a recurring role on the ABC Soap Loving within just a few months of arriving in the Big Apple and kept continuously busy with television commercials soon leading to feature films, T.V. movies and many guest-starring roles on prime-time T.V. shows.
Ten years later, and a move to Los Angeles, she found herself in the enviable position of playing Anthony Edwards daughter in the recurring role of Rachel Greene on the number one T.V. show in the world, ER.
You may remember Hallee from some of her most memorable roles as Tom Hanks' character's eight year old aunt in the hit feature film You've Got Mail and a young Rene Zellwegger in One True Thing opposite Meryl Streep and William Hurt. She has also starred in many prestigious movies for television opposite some the most respected actors in the business. Besides Hanks, Streep and Hurt, she has worked with Meg Ryan, Kathy Bates, Lynn Redgrave, Jeremy Irons, Ned Beatty, Mary Louise Parker, Stanley Tucci, Tyne Daley, Carol Burnett, Frankie Muniz (twice) and now Anthony Edwards! Perhaps her most memorable role is that of a child criminal on Law & Order. She gave a chilling performance as a would-be serial killer on an episode called Kilerz for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award. Prior to that, casting directors would not see her for an 'edgy' role as she was known as 'that sweet little girl' from You've Got Mail, which is more her true nature. Since then her agent's phone rings off the hook. Similar dramatic roles followed on Judging Amy and Family Law and even some comedic ones such as the starring role on the Disney Channel's Original T.V. Movie, The Ultimate Christmas Present, for which Hallee won a Young Artist Award, and a memorable guest starring role opposite Frankie Muniz on FOX's Malcolm in the Middle.
Additional credits include Lifetime Channel's Taking Back our Town, Hallmark's My Sister's Keeper, The Ultimate Christmas Present on the Disney Channel.
When she is not acting, Hallee is an avid golfer, reader, rock-climber, poet, and budding film-maker with her brother and friends.
