EPISODE SYNOPSIS: This is the key episode which introduces John, Elizabeth (Sara Lane), and Stacey Grainger (Don Quine). John Grainger (Charles Bickford) and his grandchildren Elizabeth and hot-tempered Stacey (whose parents had been killed in an Indian raid) take over the ownership of Shiloh. John soon discovers that the neighboring rancher is none other than Lee Calder (Jo Van Fleet) who has held a grudge for twenty five years over the death of her husband while he and John had been prospecting. Lee is so overcome with bitterness that she refuses to reconcile with John and determines to run him off his ranch. She involves her foreman, Jim Dawson (Slate), in the scheme by promising him a part of Shiloh and has him use a running iron to alter the brand on some of her stock.

EPISODE SYNOPSIS: Randy finds several hundred dollars worth of gold coins in a cave on Shiloh, and a government agent reveals it's only a small portion of a fortune stashed away during the Civil War. It seems the young cowboy has run into a string of luck when his brother (Slate) arrives saying he wants to renew long-lost family ties. But unbeknownst to Randy, "Johnny Kane" is hiding the fact he's wanted for murder.
